Veteran musician MS Viswanathan Passed Away

MS Viswanathan the top most famous music director who scored music for over 1,000 films in multiple languages, passed away on Tuesday. He was undergoing treatment at Fortis Malar hospital from last month as he was suffering from breathing problems. The legendary music director has started his career as a composer for 1952 film Tamil Panam starring Sivaji Ganeshan and later gained huge popularity with his music in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam languages.

Viswanathan received many awards for his contribution to South Indian music and mastered in handling instruments like the harmonium, the piano and the keyboard. Viswanathan has worked with leading actors and directors during the late 70s and 80s and in Telugu, many evergreen classics had been produced in the combination of MSV and legendary filmmaker K Balachander. In telugu his latest compositions include Tenali Ramakrishna, Anthuleni Katha, Idhi Katha Kaadu, Aakali Rajyam, Maro Charitra and many more.

Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan who has worked with MSV in many films stated, "MSV has blended into Tamil cinema history. He is part of Tamil and south Indian cultural tapestry. He has become the background score of many people's lives. They nostalgically recount their own life with his music."
